Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business touch base with pepper square
Entrepreneurship study group from CMU B-school tap pepper square business experience
Friday, March 14, 2008 | Bangalore
pepper square played host to students from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) - Tepper School of Business (Top 5 ranked MBA program in US - Wall Street Journal, 2007) who were visiting Bangalore as part of their entrepreneurship program. The team of students were led by Miguel Guzmán-Betancourt and Mayank Tibrewala and had come down to India, specifically Bangalore to study self-funded entrepreneurial ventures. Along with Infosys and a host of other growing companies, pepper square was identified as a self-sustaining entrepreneurial venture from whom they could learn much more in the creative space.
The CMU students met Muki Regunathan, Founder & CEO of pepper square and Jyothi Kiran, Director, and wanted to know the secret behind the successful creation and growth of pepper square in the competitive interactive space. With a diverse work culture and self-funding, pepper square has managed to chalk out its own course in emerging as one of the premier players in the interactive services market with Fortune 500 companies and a range of start-ups as clients.
Muki explained that the secret of pepper square emergence was the people factor. The pepper square team is made up of professionals from villages and cities who bring in their own ideas and creativity into the field, he said.
The Carnegie Mellon students, who were made up of diverse nationalities themselves, interacted with the pepper square team members and got a first-hand account of how pepper square operates in a self-sustaining environment. The CMU students were impressed by the low attrition rate (on an average people stay with pepper square for 3 years). This figure outshone even some of the largest firms in India. A free and fair culture creates a relaxed atmosphere where creative freedom grows with innovation, Muki explained.
The visit was successful and the Tepper School of Business students extended an invite to Muki to come down to Pittsburgh and share his entrepreneurial insights with the students and faculty.
